Pre-season friendlies: PSG fight back to beat Sporting Lisbon
PSG came from behind to beat Sporting Lisbon 4-2 while Lorient beat neighbours Guingamp by the same scoreline and Brest beat Breton rivals Vannes 3-1 as several Ligue 1 clubs swung into friendly action on Wednesday.
New recruits Mathieu Bodmer and Nenê both made their debuts for Antoine Kombouaré’s side as PSG capped off a week-long training camp in Aix-les-Bains with a come-from-behind 4-2 win over Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday night.
Despite falling two goals behind in the first five minutes, goals from last season’s top scorer Mevlut Erding and Ludovic Giuly had the scores level at the break before Benin international Stéphane Sessegnon and Jean-Eudes Maurice scored in the second half to clinch a tough win.
Meanwhile in Brittany’s Paul Le Hesran Challenge, Lorient saw off 2009 French Cup winners Guingamp (National) 4-2 and Ligue 1 new boys Brest dominated Vannes (Ligue 2) 3-1.
Lille cruised to a comfortable 4-1 win over Cherbourg (CFA, D4) thanks to doubles from Moussa Sow, recently signed from Rennes, and Stéphane Dumont, while former Le Mans striker Anthony Le Tallec nabbed the win for new club Auxerre over Tours (Ligue 2) with the only goal of the game.
Toulouse beat Ajaccio (Ligue 2) 1-0 thanks to a strike from youth academy product Ahmed Soukhouna while Lens prevailed with the same scoreline against Belgian first-division side Waregem.
Rennes drew 1-1 with Nantes (Ligue 2) while the only Ligue 1 sides to fall to friendly defeats were Caen, who conceded the Norman Trophy to local rivals Le Havre (Ligue 2) 1-0, and Sochaux, who went down to Evian TG FC, also by one goal to nil.
