PSG held at Bordeaux
When Mohamed Sissoko gave Paris Saint-Germain the lead at Bordeaux the Ligue 1 leaders were on course for a seventh straight win. But Yoan Gouffran, with his fourth goal in three games, meant it finished 1-1.
Sissoko's 10th-minute opener was the powerful midfielder's first goal in Ligue 1 as the Malian international, signed from Juventus in the summer, sought to build on an impressive display at home to Slovan Bratislava in the Europa League in midweek. Nene's corner was allowed to bounce on the edge of the six-yard box and Sissoko used the power in his neck muscles to flick the ball into the top corner with home keeper Cédric Carrasso rooted to the spot in the centre of the goal. It was PSG's first goal at Bordeaux since November 2005.
Spurned opportunity, Gouffran equaliser
With the rest of the top six having failed to win this weekend, PSG knew the Sunday evening match provided them with a tremendous opportunity to ease five points clear at the top heading into the international break. Especially as Bordeaux had won none of their six home games this season.
Francis Gillot's side, however, had boosted their morale with a 2-0 win at Ajaccio in Week 12 thanks to a Gouffran double and the forward it was who got them back on terms three minutes after Sissoko's opener. Benoît Trémoulinas was afforded the freedom of the left flank to advance from halfway before delivering a cross which Gouffran met with a diving header, reaching the ball in front of left-back Siaka Tiéné, which lodged in the corner of the net after beating Salvatore Sirigu's despairing dive.
Sirigu to the rescue
Bordeaux enjoyed a lot of joy down the left in the first half with Trémoulinas linking up effectively with Nicolas Maurice-Belay but, with Sirigu continuing his good form, PSG stood firm to set up a sixth consecutive draw at the Stade Chaban-Delmas in Ligue 1 this season.
Javier Pastore had another quiet game for PSG, who managed only one further effort on target all match long. Bordeaux, like Marseille, have thrived since switching to a 4-4-2 formation and the home side looked the likelier side to force a winner.
PSG prolong unbeaten run
Jaroslav Plasil drew a fine flying save from Sirigu in the first half and in the second half late substitute Anthony Modeste spurned the best of the opportunities in an encouraging display when he headed wide from a Fahid Ben Khalfallah centre.
PSG remain unbeaten in the league since the opening day of the season, while Bordeaux are just a couple of points above the relegation zone.
