Rennes recruit Ilunga

Stade Rennais have announced the signing of experienced defender Hérita Ilunga on a deal until the end of the season.

Ilunga, 30, has agreed a six-month contract to become the Brittany club's second January signing, after that of John Mensah. Ilunga, who has previously had spells with AS Saint-Etienne, Toulouse FC, West Ham United and Doncaster Rovers, had been on trial with Brest earlier this month.

The signing of Ilunga came as Rennes full-back Yassine Jebbour agreed to join AS Nancy Lorraine on a loan deal until the end of the season, and as Rennes learned that talented midfielder Vincent Pajot will spend six weeks on the sidelines after tearing a hamstring in Sunday's win against SC Bastia.
