Sala nets winner as Nantes beat Montpellier
Emiliano Sala struck an 89th-minute winner for Nantes in a 3-2 success in a thriller at Montpellier. Earlier Préjuce Nakoulma had scored his first two Les Canaris goals.
Montpellier Hérault SC 2-3 FC Nantes
Nantes scored their first win at Montpellier since 1999 in dramatic fashion, going in front for the second time in the game and managing to make it stick as MHSC lost at home for only the third time in 17 matches.
Home hotshot Steve Mounié - inevitably - opened the scoring in the 12th minute as he notched for the fifth Ligue 1 game running. Maxime Dupé misjudged his sortie and Mounié beat Koffi Djidji in the air to head home his 13th Ligue 1 goal of the season.
Nakoulma equalised in the 24th minute. The Burkina Faso international's first goal for the club was a fortunate one as the ball bounced off his knee and took Laurent Pionnier by surprise. His second, in the 68th minute, was reward for a string Nantes spell. Pionnier saved Adrien Thomasson's shot and Nakoulma was there to snaffle up the rebound.
Montpellier equalised six minutes from time thanks to a superb Ryad Boudebouz strike from the edge of the box, the Algerian international's ninth Ligue 1 goal of the campaign. But there was still to be late drama as Sala cut past Vitorino Hilton and Joris Marveaux before beating Pionnier with a low shot as Nantes climbed provisionally into the top half.
