Sarabia - PSG's first signing!
Paris Saint-Germain have announced the arrival of Spanish midfielder Pablo Sarabia from Sevilla FC on a five-year, €20m deal.
Paris Saint-Germain officially kicked off their summer 2019 transfer action on Tuesday with the signature of Spanish midfielder Pablo Sarabia. The former Spain youth international, now 27, just finished a successful season with Sevilla FC, and joins Ligue 1 Conforama on a five-year, €20m deal.
After coming up through Real Madrid's youth academy, Sarabia was handed his first senior-team appearance by José Mourinho in a Champions League match against AJ Auxerre on 8 December 2010 (4-0). However, he ended up just playing once for Real, moving to Madrid neighbours Getafe the following season in a bid for more game time. The move worked and the attacking midfielder, who can play through the middle or out wide, stayed at the club for five seasons.
Sarabia hits the big time
In the summer of 2016, Sevilla FC sniffed out a good deal and lured the Castilian to Andalusia. During his three years with the Andalusian outfit, the 2013 U21 Euros winner rose to the upper echelons of players in Spain, and his last campaign was enough to convince Paris Saint-Germain's decision-makers.
The left-footer was a stand-out for Sevilla, scoring 12 league goals and providing 13 assists - a league-high performance matched only by the legendary Lionel Messi of FC Barcelona in the season just passed.
