Lacazette fires OL ahead
Thanks to their attacking fireworks at the Parc OL on Saturday night, Olympique Lyonnais took a decisive three-point lead over AS Monaco, their direct rivals in the hunt for second place and the Champions League group stage qualification that goes with it.
Unbeaten at home since their move to the Parc OL (nine wins, two draws), Lyon celebrated their 100th top-flight clash with Monaco by notching their biggest-ever win against the principality club.
Alexandre Lacazette put his signature on the big win with a hat-trick, his second of the season after hammering three past Saint-Etienne in the last-ever derby at the Stade de Gerland late last year. Lacazette's hat-trick to him to 20 Ligue 1 goals for the season, making him the first Frenchman to score at least 20 in successive Ligue 1 campaigns since Stéphane Guivarc'h in seasons 1996-97 (21 goals) and 19997-98 (21 goals).
