Toulouse built on their weekend victory over Nice with another vital three points as things now look even more desperate for winless Troyes, marooned at the bottom of the table on five points.
Just as against Nice, Toulouse's 16-year-old goalkeeper Alban Lafont managed a clean sheet. Issa Diop (2'), Jean-Daniel Akpa-Akpro (49') and sub Aleksandar Pesic (87') scored the precious Toulouse goals. TFC had Marcel Tisserand sent off in the 65th minute and Stéphane Darbion followed him off 13 minutes later.
Dominique Arribagé's Toulouse made the perfect start as Diop met Oscar Trejo's excellent free-kick and placed a header beyond the reach of fellow 18-year-old Paul Bernardoni.
Troyes had their chances but foundered as Lafont belied his youth with a string of fine saves, notably from Lossemy Karaboué and Thomas Ayasse.
Early in the second half visiting captain Akpa-Akpro nutmegged Matthieu Saunier, accelerated upfield and finished from 25 metres out.
Tisserand got his marching orders for a second bookable offence, though Troyes' numerical advantage did not last long as Darbion was soon following him off for the same reason.
Pesic put the seal on it with a stylish goal that involved backheels and nutmegs and a one-two with Akpa-Akpro. The mood at the final whistle could not have been more different in the two camps.
