Verratti doubtful for Gazélec
Marco Verratti is doubtful to make the Paris Saint-Germain squad for the trip to Corsica to take on GFC Ajaccio, the Italy midfielder suffering from a thigh complaint.
While Paris Saint-Germain boss Laurent Blanc would certainly like to have Verratti operational - the key midfielder had been out of action with a groin problem since late February before returning to league duties in the 4-0 Week 36 rout of Rennes - for Saturday's clash in Corsica, there is apparently little reason for concern.
Fortunately for the PSG boss, whose side can set a new Ligue 1 points record with a result against GFC, Verratti's current injury is not a flare-up of the delicate and tough-to-manage complaint that kept him out of action for so long, but rather a strained hamstring, picked up in training on Tuesday.
Verratti worked with the physio on Wednesday after warming up with the squad and is still a chance for Saturday's squad, but with a Coupe de France final against arch-rivals Olympique de Marseille - where a win would clinch a second-straight domestic clean-sweep for the capital club - and Euro 2016 with Italy looming, no risks are likely to be taken with his fitness.
