Stade Brestois have automatically qualified for the UEFA Champions League next season after their 3-0 road win over Toulouse FC on Sunday night at Stadium de Toulouse, and LOSC Lille’s draw.

Brest and Toulouse played out a scoreless first half as the visitors had three total shots while the home side countered with zero total shots. Despite a lack of goals from Éric Roy and his team, they did receive good news upon entering the dressing room.

Les Pirates needed Lille to lose or draw while they won to secure an automatic qualification to the Champions League next season.

Upon returning from the dressing room, Brest found their scoring boots as Mahdi Camara scored in the 48th minute of the match to give them a 1-0 advantage over Toulouse. The visitors’ scoring didn’t stop there as they quickly increased their lead to 2-0 courtesy of a fine free kick by Jordan Amavi.

Brest then finished their scoring in the 90th minute courtesy of a goal from Kenny Lala, and at that point, both Brest and Lille were tied on points and goal differential, but it wouldn’t last long as in the other match Nice scored a late goal which saw Lille drop points.

Due to the favorable result in the Lille-Nice match, Brest secured third place and the automatic Champions League spot after their 3-0 win over Toulouse.
