AS Monaco finished their season in style, coming second in Ligue 1 Uber Eats, and the Principality side are already busy with building their squad for the Champions League
The Ligue 1 Uber Eats season has only just come to an end, but AS Monaco, fresh off the back of an impressive 4-0 home win against FC Nantes which confirmed their finishing second to Paris Saint-Germain, are already looking forward to future. Over the last three days, the Principality club have confirmed two deals to help strengthen their squad with an eye towards participating in the UEFA Champions League next year.

Thilo Kehrer’s arrival on loan in the winter looked a canny one. Limited in opportunities at West Ham United, he arrived in the Principality with three Ligue 1 Uber Eats titles won with Paris Saint-Germain, nearly 30 caps of experience with the German national team, as well as a bevy of experience in European competitions.
Playing both centrally and as a right back, he helped Monaco surge from fifth to second, helping them keep a clean sheet against Paris Saint-Germain and win seven of their final eight matches in the league, comfortably securing a return to the Champions League. On the back of these performances, AS Monaco have picked up his purchase option and signed him to deal through 2028.

Kehrer’s extended stay, which was announced on Friday, was complemented by another today for a fellow breakout star of the second half of the season. As instrumental as Kehrer has been to a second-half surge for coach Adi Hütter’s side, it was the manager’s choice to replace Philipp Köhn with Radoslaw Majecki in goal that has paid the most dividends.
After signing for AS Monaco in 2020, Majecki struggled to break into the first team, and spent last season on loan at Cercle Brugge, a sister club in Belgium. He impressed there, but his path to the first team seemed blocked by the signing of Köhn in the summer, but after some wobbles by the Swiss, he received his chance, and took it with both hands, racking up nine wins, two draws and just one defeat in his twelve starts, again underscoring his importance to his team.

The 18-year-old midfielder is now committed to the Club until June 30, 2027.

But Monaco aren’t the only club working to improve their squad by means of signing players to an extension. Luis Enrique has been fond of using younger players this season, something that helped him immeasurably in guiding the club to a third straight title. With an extension recently signed for France international Warren Zaïre-Emery, the club have done the same for his fellow midfielder, Senny Mayulu, extending his deal to 2027.
Alongside the likes of Nuno Mendes, Bradley Barcola and defender Yoram Zague, the capital side look well-situated to defend their title with a youthful side.
