For Olympique Lyonnais, the results might not be there quite yet, but the rebuild under Peter Bosz is gaining credibility.

The shadow of Memphis Depay is lifting, and a new trio of leaders is shedding light on the Groupama Stadium after a gloomy start to the campaign. Bosz said: "We’re playing better than before. Everybody can see that."

Lucas Paqueta is leading the way, having scored four times already this term, and as the new signings begin to settle around the Brazilian number 10, Lyon’s game plan is coming together. Full-back Emerson and Xherdan Shaqiri have begun making a real impact, both finding the score sheet last weekend.

Paqueta commented in The Ligue 1 Show on beIN SPORTS:  "They are two excellent players, who have already made their mark here. They bring experience to the group and both really help this team."

Shaqiri: "I will get better"

Shaqiri’s talent is no secret to anyone, but having not played a full season of football with Liverpool for three years, the 29-year-old’s fitness is currently the main concern. Shaqiri said:  "I hadn’t played for a long time so I need to come in. Of course I want to give my best and will get better"

Bosz added: "He didn’t have a pre-season with us, so his team-mates don’t know all his qualities yet and vice-versa. It needs a bit of time, but everybody has seen how good his left foot is. His crossing is extraordinary. He’s a great player!"

Lyon’s biggest name recruit of the summer is Jerome Boateng. The 33-year-old German centre-back will help secure a defence that conceded seven goals in the first three games of the season. A centre-back pairing of Boateng and Jason Denayer is a difficult one to break down. Denayer said:
"It’s going really well with him, because he’s got so much experience, he communicates really well without needing to shout. He’s adapting really well to us, as we are to him!"

Recruits looking to add to silverware collection

Deprived of silverware since 2013, Lyon have brought in the right sort of recruit to change that. Between them Shaqiri, Emerson and Boateng have won 50 senior trophies. That’s what you call experience.
