This season, we've seen another raft of talented teenagers emerge in France – and PSG's midfield prodigy Warren Zaïre-Emery is perhaps the most eye-catching of the lot. Aged just 17, Zaire-Emery has imposed himself in a team of superstars, and he's got his colleagues, coaches and supporters very excited indeed!

Warren Zaïre-Emery has been the revelation of PSG's season. The youngster from Montreuil has been on the club's books since the age of eight… and this season he is proving that it is possible for a young Parisian kid to flourish in a team of superstars.

Debut

He signed his first professional contract last summer aged 16, before becoming PSG's youngest ever player on the opening weekend of the season.

"I've gradually got to know Warren during the last months of working together," PSG coach Christophe Galtier told the Ligue 1 Show on beIN SPORTS. "I said recently that if he keeps these good performances up, and if he brings something extra to the team, then there's no reason why he won't get even more game time."

The fans are certainly for it, delighting in the ascension of the uber-talented home-grown midfielder.

"Zaïre-Emery's a wunderkind! He's one of the next big things!" enthused one Parc des Princes regular. "He has slotted in with Messi, Neymar and Mbappé… that's amazing in itself! We really need to hold on to this boy."

Off the mark

The dynamic midfielder has caught the eye in virtually every performance… that was certainly the case in Montpellier (in Round 22) when he became PSG's youngest-ever goalscorer, aged just 16 years and 330 days.

"I had made a mistake in the game before, against Reims, so I wanted to make up for it here," recalled Emery. "I tried my luck and it went in."

The fact that the youngster was on hand to redeem himself was down to some savvy from renowned man-manager Galtier.

"I wanted to bring him on because he got stick from a lot of people for his role in the goal we conceded against Reims in the 96th minute. It's been hard for him," explained the PSG boss. "It also sends a strong signal to the young players at the club. I'm really happy for him - he's an important player in the squad."

Totally at home

Zaïre-Emery has played a part in each of PSG's last 15 matches… and he continues to look totally at home with the big boys.

"He's quite a discrete boy, but he has a big personality when he's out on the pitch," explained Galtier, with Emery clearly on the same page. "I try to show my character through what I do on the pitch. People don't see that side of me away from football, because I don't talk much, I'm shy. I'm not someone who likes to show off."

Against Bayern Munich, he became the youngest player ever to start a Champions League knockout tie. And again, thanks to his mature attitude and his exceptional athletic qualities, Zaïre-Emery didn't look out of place.

"I'm not surprised, because he has the intelligence to understand, and also to know that he has to keep working, and he has the behaviour, the fantastic behaviour that gives him the chance to play," said former player and current PSG Academy Deputy Director Yohan Cabaye. "He has played more than 20 games. He deserves everything that he has."

The ethic

The France U19 international remains hungry, focused and determined - so much so that his teammates have even found a nickname for the boy wonder.

'They call me the robot because I'm always looking to work after training… and before as well," he admitted. "I arrive early. I try to be disciplined and do things as well as I can.'

Currently under contract until 2025, PSG's fans will be hoping that this local lad becomes a first team mainstay for many years to come.
