Lille beat Monaco 2-1 thanks to goals scored by Jonathan David and Yusuf Yazici to end Monaco's four-match Ligue 1 Uber Eats winning run.

LOSC 2-1 MONACO

THE MATCH

The victory lifted LOSC to second place in the table, two points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain. It was Christophe Galtier's side's first victory the weekend following playing in the Europa League and the win was impressive given it came against a Principality club in such good form.

The match started at a ferocious pace and Sofiane Diop forced a save from Mike Maignan (13'). More than 20 minutes elapsed before the next attempt on target from Wissam Ben Yedder (35'), while LOSC enjoyed the best chance of the first half as Jonathan Bamba (42') brought the best out of Vito Mannone with a curler.

Mannone saved a Burak Yilmaz free-kick (48') before LOSC took the lead (53') as Jonathan Ikoné drew five Monaco players to him before slipping the ball to Jonathan David. The Canadian international forward lifted the ball over Mannone for his second league goal.

LOSC doubled their lead (65') when - on a break led by Bamba - Yilmaz set up fellow Turkish international Yazici, on as a sub for David, who beat Mannone with a right-footed shot. Monaco scored a consolation goal (90') through substitute Pietro Pellegri, set up by fellow replacement Cesc Fabregas.

THE PLAYER: Yusuf Yazici

The goal against Monaco was Yazici's fourth in the league this season, to go with two Europa League hat-tricks. Getting on the scoresheet against Monaco was symbolic for the Turkish international as on December 21 he ruptured his ACL in his right knee at Stade Louis II against the same opponents. Yazici has fought back strongly to become a major figure in the Les Dogues squad.

THE STAT: 2

LOSC have won two of their last six home Ligue 1 matches against Monaco.
