LOSC 2-1 Toulouse FC

THE MATCH

Lille started brightly and took the lead inside the opening five minutes when David cut inside Rasmus Nicolaisen and steered a fine left-footed finish high into Maxime Dupé's top corner (5'). Mikkel Desler had a good chance at the other end, forcing Dupé's opposite number Lucas Chevalier into a save with a volley (20'), but most of the first-half traffic flowed in the opposite direction. The arrival of André Gomes on loan from Everton means that former Manchester United man Angel Gomes is able to line up further up the field, and he nearly took full advantage minutes later after a penetrating run, but his finish let him down (26'). Jonathan Bamba then nutmegged his marker before firing high over the Toulouse crossbar (29') and it was 1-0 at the break.

Oh nice, Ounas!

Toulouse got back on level terms soon after the restart. Thijs Dallinga capitalised on some lax Lille passing out from the back and laid the ball off for Farès Chaïbi to lash home his first goal for le Téfécé (48'). Parity lasted only five minutes, though. Benjamin André lifted the ball forward for Ounas and the Algeria midfielder - on his home debut - scored with a stunning volley on the turn for 2-0 (53'). Bamba has another opportunity soon after, having driven at the visiting defence, but he got caught in two minds and the chance went begging (59'). Neither goalkeeper was called into action in the final half hour and it ended 2-1 to Lille.

THE PLAYER: Adam Ounas

Ounas was a constant menace for the Toulouse defence and could hardly have scored his first Lille goal in finer style. The former Napoli man has significant competition in his role from the likes of Rémy Cabella and Yusuf Yazici, but he did his chances of further inclusion no harm whatsoever here.

THE STAT: 16

At 16 years, 10 months and five days of age, Lille centre-back Leny Yoro became les Dogues' youngest ever starter, eclipsing a certain Eden Hazard. He is also the fifth-youngest player of the 21st century to start a Ligue 1 Uber Eats game. Standing in for the suspended Tiago Djalo on Saturday, the future looks very bright indeed for the France under-17 starlet.
