Two goals in three minutes for Jonathan David put Lille 2-0 up against Nantes, as Les Dogues looked to seal a podium position in Ligue 1 Uber Eats and Champions League football for next season

It was a vital game at Stade de la Beaujoire, as a win would see Lille move onto the podium positions in Ligue 1 and closer to officially sealing Champions League football. The visitors would go in front early on through Jonathan David, who stunned the home side with a header following a corner Edon Zhegrova (8'). It would go from bad to worse for the international would then get his quickfire double only minutes later, as he tapped away a simple finish after being served by Angel Gomes (11').

It would be a quieter end to the first half than the beginning, as Nantes looked to get back into the game on home soil. Les Canaris would then get back into the game thanks to a goal from Matthis Albine, as Benie Traoré surged into the box and the Frenchman swept home a first-time finish from the pull-back (54'). Antoine Koumbaré's side looked to then push further to try and get back into the game, even hitting the post through Benie Traoré.

Yet, the away side would hold on for the three points, seeing Les Dogues move into the podium position for the first time this season as Paulo Fonseca's side edge closer to Champions League football. For Nantes, it comes as a straight ninth defeat at home in Ligue 1 Uber Eats - the first ever club to do so.
