There were chances at both ends as Olympique de Marseille hosted LOSC in a potential European six-pointer, but the deadlock remained intact as they drew 0-0.

Olympique de Marseille 0-0 LOSC

THE MATCH

Marseille and Lille both have aspirations of qualifying for Europe come the end of the campaign and neither team was willing to give an inch at the Orange Vélodrome. Pierre-Emerick had the hosts' first chance, curling an early effort wide (5'). Yusuf Yazici duly tried to lob Pau Lopez at the other end, but his fine attempt hit the bar and stayed out (15'). Samuel Gigot then drew a big cheer from the home support after blocking Ivan Cavaleiro at the last (22'). Cavaleiro was a handful and fired another shot wide before the offside flag went up against him (38'). In an end-to-end first half, Amine Harit looked to have the final say when met Jonathan Clauss' cross, but he missed with the goal at his mercy (45') and it was goalless at the break.

Deadlock intact

Marseille started the second half brightly and Jordan Veretout forced a good save from Lucas Chevalier before the offside flag went up against him (56'). Clauss then tried to test Chevalier from a free-kick but sent his effort over the crossbar (59'). Gigot, who had been imperious at the back, had to make way for Bamo Meïté due to injury midway through the half (68'). His absence seemed to embolden Lille, and Angel Gomes cut inside before letting fly, which drew a great save from Pau Lopez (80'). Meïté might have had the final say at the death but he headed Harit's corner wide (90'+3) and it ended 0-0.

THE PLAYER: Samuel Gigot

That Marseille came away with at least a share of the spoils here was thanks in no small part to Gigot, who made two crucial interventions before injury forced him off. Rino Gattusso has preferred Meïté alongside Chancel Mbemba at the heart of the defence of late, so the pressure was on Gigot, and he delivered.

THE STAT: 12

Marseille remain undefeated in 12 of their last 13 home matches against Lille in all competitions. Lille last won at the Vélodrome in January 2019, which was the first time since March 2011.
