On Sunday at Stade Auguste-Delaune II, RC Lens and Stade de Reims, both vying for European competition spots next season, ended their match in a 1-1 draw.

The scoring for both squads came late in the first half, with Oumar Diakité recording the first goal of the match in the 41st minute. Reims' lead wouldn't last long as Wesley Saïd scored in the first half's stoppage time.

In the second half, the two teams ramped up their offensive output as they searched for the second goal to claim all three points. Lens and Reims each had seven total shots in the final 45 minutes, but neither side could find the game-winner and settled for a draw.

Despite the draw, Lens remains in the thick of challenging for a UEFA Champions League spot next season. Les Sang et Or are only three points behind OGC Nice, so the result doesn't hinder any aspirations to play in Europe's top competition.

As for Reims, the draw does see their chances of playing in a European competition fading, as they're now six points behind Stade Brestois, who are in fifth place. Will Still and his team have to start securing wins if they want to maintain themselves in the race.

Reims will travel to the Stade Oceane for a road matchup against Le Havre next Sunday, while RC Lens welcomes Monaco to the Stade Bollaert-Delelis in a clash of two teams vying for a Champions League spot next season.
