Sunday was packed with exciting Ligue 1 matches as FC Metz and Stade Brestois claimed important victories while Montpellier HSC and RC Strasbourg settled for a draw. Here's a rundown of the results.

Montpellier 2-2 Strasbourg

Of the two sides, La Paillade showed a stronger offensive presence, taking 21 shots throughout the 90 minutes. Still, Strasbourg would open the scoring in the 47th minute on a penalty kick goal from Habib Diarra. Montpellier responded with a goal from Arnaud Nordin in the 71st minute, which kicked off a flurry of scoring late in the match.

After Montpellier had leveled the match, Strasbourg retook the lead after Emanuel Emegha scored to make it 2-1 in the 83rd minute. Les Bleu et Blanc was just moments away from securing a victory, but Nordin scored his second goal in the 87th minute, leveling the score.

FC Nantes 0-2 FC Metz

Metz secured three crucial points in the relegation battle after scoring two quick goals early in the second half. Georges Mikautadze scored a penalty in the 58th minute to give the away side the lead. Then, two minutes later, Matthieu Udol added the insurance goal to provide Metz with a much-needed victory.

Although the result doesn't take Metz out of the direct relegation zone, they only trail Montpellier by three points for the playoff relegation position. László Bölöni and his team could add another three points next weekend when they face Clermont Foot.

Brest 1-0 Le Havre

In a tightly contested matchup, Pierre Lees-Melou's goal in the 34th minute was the difference-maker that gave Brest the win. The result also allows Eric Roy and his team to create breathing room between them and AS Monaco. Brest are now four points above the third-place side and will aim to continue their impressive form next weekend against RC Lens, who are also vying for a European competition spot.
