Stade Brestois and FC Nantes played to a scoreless draw on Saturday night at Stade Francis Le Blé, and both teams left the contest with a point.

Brest generated six total shots in the first half while Nantes countered with seven, but neither side could break the deadlock in the first 45 minutes. The goals also failed to come in the second half as the home side only recorded three total shots while the visitors registered two total shots.

The result isn't ideal for Brest (57 points), who currently occupy third place, as LOSC Lille (55 points) can leapfrog Éric Roy and his team with a win over Olympique Lyonnais on Monday. OGC Nice can also get within striking distance of Brest as Les Aiglons have a game in hand.

Les Pirates must secure victories against Stade de Reims and Toulouse FC to finish off the Ligue 1 season. Brest have one win in their last four matches (two draws and one loss), which has opened the door for Lille and Nice to leapfrog them.

If they drop points in their last two games, Brest risk slipping to fifth place, especially if Lille and Nice can manage to secure wins in their final matches of the campaign.

Nantes' draw against Brest allows them to remain above FC Metzwho lost on Saturday to Stade Rennais, by four pointsAntoine Kombouaré and his team aren't yet clear of relegation entirely, as there will be no direct relegation for Nantes, but they can still fall into the relegation playoff position.

Les Canaris have two challenging final matches against Lille and AS MonacoIf Nantes can secure two winsthen they'll stay in the safe zone and play in France's top flight next season.
