The Coupe de France round of 32 tie between Entente Sannis Saint-Gratien has been postponed following the disappearance of a plane carrying former Nantes striker Emiliano Sala to his new club, Cardiff City, on Monday night.

Initially set for 18:30 on Wednesday 23 January, the tie has been postponed by the FFF until a date to be determined.

Missing

Emiliano Sala, 28, had just signed for EPL club Cardiff City following a stunning first half of the 2018-19 campaign that saw him bag 12 goals (two assists) in 19 Ligue 1 Conforama appearances.

The private plane Sala was on was due to land in Wales around 21:00 CET on Monday evening, but contact with the plane was lost around 20:00. A large-scale search and rescue operation was launched in the area of British Channel island Aurigny but no sign of the plane has yet been found and there are graves fears for Sala's safety.

Kita: 'Still hopeful'

"He's a polite, kind and charming lad, loved by everyone," said FC Nantes president Waldemar Kita of the Argentine striker. "My thoughts are with his family and his friends. We don't know very much at this point but I'm still hopeful that it's not over and that he is somewhere to be found."
