Presented to the press late on Monday afternoon, Argentine striker Dario Benedetto delivered his first words as an Olympique de Marseille player after signing from Boca Juniors on a four-year, €14m deal.

What do you know about this club and its fans?

"It's a club that's very similar to the one I was at previously, Boca Juniors. It's a passionate club. I saw some great players when I was at the game yesterday (OM's 1-0 friendly defeat to Napoli]. It was very interesting. This is a very important challenge for me personally and in my career. I hope I'm up to the task."

What were your impressions of OM's performance on Sunday?

"It was really incredible. This stadium, these fans... To have been able to experience this yesterday was incredible. Now I hope to score, because that's the most important thing for me and I really hope to make the fans happy. I know that this is a club of football enthusiasts and a city of passion and I hope to succeed here."

Not ready for opening round

You've had some injuries in the last few months. How healthy are you?

"I feel very well physically. I had a little ligament tension recently, which made me miss a few workouts, but I feel really good. I will be able to start adjusting to my new club and teammates."

When do you think you will be able to play a game with OM?

"If everything goes well, I'll start training as soon as possible and it's only a matter of days. For the first round, I won't be ready. I'm not going to play - we're going to avoid the risk of injuries. But by the Week 2, I'll be there if the coach wants me to be."

'I trust my qualities'

You've never played in Europe before. At 29 years old, is it a personal pressure for you to have to prove yourself in this respect?

"No, no pressure at all for me. As I said, this is a great challenge. It is indeed my first experience in Europe but I really take it as a challenge. I am feeling calm an, I will give it my all.

What kind of striker are you? How would you define your game?

"I'm an attacker who likes to play the game, who obviously likes to score. When I have a chance, I try to put it in the back of the net. I will try to prove myself on a daily basis by working hard and I am confident in my ability to get where I want to go."
