Neymar Jr. will be out for four weeks after suffering a hamstring injury on international duty in a major blow to his club Paris Saint-Germain.

In a statement on Monday evening, PSG revealed that Neymar had undergone a MRI scan which confirmed a "grade 2" injury to his left hamstring. The statement added that "another assessment will be made in eight days, but initial estimates put his return to competition at four weeks, depending on how the injury progresses."

That means the world's most expensive player is unlikely to return to action for PSG until after the November international break. The Ligue 1 Conforama leaders have six matches in that period, including this weekend's trip to OGC Nice, the Classique at home to Olympique de Marseille on October 27, and a UEFA Champions League double-header against Club Brugge.

Neymar, who has scored four goals in five Ligue 1 Conforama appearances this season, went off hurt early in Brazil's 1-1 friendly draw with Nigeria in Singapore on Sunday.
