Leandro Paredes has completed his move to Ligue 1 Conforama leaders Paris Saint-Germain and will wear the number eight shirt at his new club.

The Argentinian midfielder, 24, has joined from Russian club Zenit St-Petersburg in a move estimated by the French press at 47 million euros, including bonuses. With Marco Verratti (ankle) currently out and Adrien Rabiot not being considered for action, Paredes' signature is a massive midfield boost for coach Thomas Tuchel.

Paredes said: "I'm very proud to have joined Paris Saint-Germain. After my previous experiences in Italy and in Russia, today I have a fantastic opportunity, not only to discover a new brand of football, but also to wear one of the most prestigious shirts in the world. I'd like to thank the club president and coach for the confidence they've shown in me by recruiting me. I can't wait to taste the passionate atmosphere of the Parc des Princes as I grew up amidst the fervour Argentines have for football."

President Nasser AL-Khelaïfi added: "We're very happy to welcome Leandro Paredes to the Paris Saint-Germain family. Leandro has within him the traditional forces of the Argentinian game, a fighting spirit and very good technical qualities. He'll bring a lot to our midfield and I'm sure he'll settle in quickly to the well-organised and ambitious team devised by our coach."
