A few days after clinching the signature of exciting winger Samuel Kalu, Bordeaux have bagged their second recruit of the summer: Croatian youth international midfielder Toma Basic.

The Croatian defensive midfielder has signed for FC Girondins de Bordeaux from homeland club Hajduk Split on a four-year deal, the French club announced on Wednesday.

Rising star

Basic, 21, has played all his senior football for Split, making his top-flight debut in August 2015. Last season, he played 27 matches for three goals and six assists.

Versatile, physically imposing (he stands at 1m89) and capable of regularly getting forward in attack without compromising his defensive duties, Basic is seen as Croatia's The Next Big Thing.

Kalu too

The promising youngster, who has represented his country at U19 level (eight caps), became the second recruit of the summer for Bordeuax, who on Monday signed exciting Nigerian wing prospect Samuel Kalu from Belgium's La Gantoise on a five-year deal.
