Claudio Ranieri has told French TV he will be Nantes coach next season, scotching speculation he will take over the Italian national team.

Ranieri has been strongly tipped to become Italy's new boss with Luigi Di Biagio only in temporary charge until the end of the season. Chelsea's Antonio Conte and former Paris Saint-Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti have also been put forward as possible contenders for the position.

After Nantes' defeat to Monaco on Saturday, however, Ranieri ruled himself out of the running.

"I'm under contract with Nantes. The media say one day I'm going to Italy, another, to Nice," said the 66-year-old. "I'll be at Nantes next year, because I have a two-year contract with them."
