Angers SCO entertain Montpellier Hérault SC in the Coupe de la Ligue quarter-finals on Wednesday looking for a boost before resuming their battle for top-flight survival.

Ligue 1 Conforama survival is the main aim for Angers, but they will be desperate to avoid a second Cup exit in four days. Runners-up in the Coupe de France last season, when it took a last-minute own goal for Paris Saint-Germain to beat them in the final, they were eliminated from that competition at the first hurdle on Sunday, losing 2-0 at home to FC Lorient of Ligue 2.

After two years in Belgium with Club Brugge, goalkeeper Ludovic Butelle is back at Angers and is set to start at the Stade Raymond Kopa. Prince Oniangué could also start following his return to France on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Runners-up in this competition in 2011, Montpellier are in a much more comfortable position in the league - they sit seventh - and are through to the next round of the Coupe de France, although they needed penalties to overcome fifth-tier side Pontarlier.

Pedro Mendes is suspended here after the Portuguese defender was sent off at the weekend, so Nordi Mukiele could play in a three-man central defence.

Probable teams

Angers: Butelle; Manceau, Pavlovic, Thomas, Capelle; Oniangué; Coulibaly, Mangani; Fulgini; Guillaume, Toko Ekambi

Montpellier: Bertaud; Aguilar, Mukiele, Hilton (c), Congré, Roussillon; Skhiri, Lasne; Sambia, Sio, Mbenza
