Andrea Traverso, UEFA's Head of Club Licensing, says that Paris Saint-Germain could fund a potential deal for the two-time FIFA Ballon d'Or winner without falling foul of Financial Fair Play.

The French champions had previous restrictions lifted last June, and despite spending over 80 million euros this season on players such as former Manchester United star Ángel Di María and promising AS Monaco left-back Layvin Kurzawa, Traverso says there should be no problem should the capital club pursue the Portuguese - hitherto the world's most expensive player.

'Return on investment'

"PSG can recruit Cristiano Ronaldo, even without signing a voluntary agreement," Traverso, 43, told Le Parisien. "This is because the club believes they will get a return on their investment and revenues which will offset the cost of the transfer and the player's salary (currently around 20 million euros per annum at Real Madrid CF)."

"In 2015, PSG will at most see a 30 million euros loss, but in 2016, the Paris club should be in balance and in 2017 also. A deal for Ronaldo would be possible if PSG report a positive result for the 2015-2016 season."
