In an interview with So Foot, 38-year-old former France international Djibril Cissé expressed his desire to return to Ligue 1 Conforama - free of charge - to finally reach the 100-goal mark in France's top flight.

Will his proposal appeal to a Ligue 1 Conforama president? In an interview with So Foot on Thursday, former Les Bleus striker Djibril Cissé, now 38, announced his intention to return to Ligue 1 to quench an obsession: reaching the 100-goal mark, which sits tantalisingly just four goals away.

"You know what it's like to be a striker, you have a love of goals, a love of milestones, 25, 50, 75... It's the 100-mark that haunts me. I've been on 96 since I stopped. I'm four short and I'm having a hard time with it, it's driving me crazy," explained Cissé, who last turned out for Swiss third-division side Yverdon in April 2018.

'I can bag the goals in two or three months'

"I want to make my return to Ligue 1 to score. If a club accepts me, I can bag the goals in two or three months. I'm pretty stubborn, and when I have a goal I do everything I can to reach it," continued the former Auxerre, Liverpool, Marseille and Bastia player. "I'm ready to come back and play for free - without pay - so there's not a lot of risk for the club."

Cissé admitted that he has not made advanced contact with any top-flight sides. His last Ligue 1 Conforama stint was with SC Bastia, back in season 2014-2015 (8 matches, 0 goals).
