On Friday Abdoulaye Bamba, a versatile 30-year-old wide defender, extended his contract with Angers SCO through to 2023.

Four days after Thomas Mangani extended his stay at the Stade Raymond Kopa, another player has committed their near-term future to Angers SCO: Abdoulaye Bamba.

Limited by injuries to just seven appearances in the 2019-20 campaign, Bamba will be looking to get back to his best and pick up where he left off in an excellent season 2018-19 (four assists in 30 matches). To do so, the Ivorian international (five caps), who came up through the Juventus youth academy, has made a serious time commitment to Stéphane Moulin's side, signing on through to 2023.

Sixth season in the top flight

Arriving in Anjou in January 2017, Bamba gradually made a place for himself in Moulin's squad. Able to play on both the right and left flanks, the 30-year-old defender will be playing his sixth season in Ligue 1 Conforama, having also spent a year at this level with Dijon FCO (24 appearances in 2011-12).
