Angers SCO kicked off their summer transfer action by announcing the arrival of 'keeper Paul Bernardoni - one of France's brightest up-and-coming glovesmen -from Bordeaux for the next four seasons.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper, who made his name in Ligue 1 Conforama with some stunning performances for Nîmes Olympique over the last two seasons, will now turn out for Angers SCO, the fifth club of his career and his fourth in Ligue 1 Conforama.

"We've been in discussion for quite some time," said Bernardoni in a video broadcast by his new club. "I really wanted to come, I'm super happy that it has come true. A great adventure is starting."

After two full seasons Nîmes Olympique (63 league matches) - on loan from Girondins de Bordeaux - the France youth international (U17-21) joins Angers SCO, after starting in Ligue 1 Conforama with Troyes in August 2015, before signing for Bordeaux and then being loaned out to Clermont Foot.

At the end of the 2017-18 Domino's Ligue 2 season, Bernardoni was named the division's best goalkeeper thanks to his record of 75% of shots saved and 14 clean sheets from 38 matches (36 goals conceded).

His contract with SCO will take effect on 1 July, the date on which training is due to resume in Angers. In the Loire valley city, he will be reunited with former Nîmes team-mates Antonin Bobichon, Sada Thioub and Rachid Alioui, all of whom signed for Angers last summer.

Winner of the 2016 Euro U19, Paul Bernardoni (1.90m) has 84 Ligue 1 Conforama appearances to his name over the last five years.

In the 2019-20 season, he managed six clean sheets in 25 appearances, with a save rate of 65.1%. The new SCO goalkeeper has a career total of 19 clean sheets in Ligue 1 Conforama.
