Monaco coach Robert Moreno hopes to be able to count on the services of Wissam Ben Yedder in 2020-2021. The French international was joint top scorer in Ligue 1 Uber Eats last campaign alongside Kylian Mbappé.

Ben Yedder enjoyed a stellar first season in the Principality following his big money move from Sevilla, netting 18 Ligue 1 Uber Eats goals in 26 appearances. Yet, with no European football to offer the 29-year-old former Toulouse star, Monaco face a battle to retain the hotshot's services.

Moreno, the former Spain coach appointed at Monaco during the winter break, said: "It's clear that Wissam Ben Yedder is one of the most important players in our project. He was the leading scorer last season alongside Mbappé and every coach would love to have such a player in his team.

"It's very important for me to have Wissam Ben Yedder here and I've said that to the club. I know that during the transfer window the situation is liable to change at any time. The most important thing for me is to hold onto Wissam. But if he has to go then I want a player or two like him to come in. If it was down to me, then I would like to keep Wissam."
