OGC Nice on Wednesday evening made the arrival of Portuguese international attacking midfielder Rony Lopes official in the form of a season-long loan with a call option.

Rony Lopes is back in Ligue 1 with Uber Eats! OGC Nice announced on Wednesday that they have reached an agreement with FC Sevilla for the loan of the attacking midfielder for a season with an option to buy. With 125 French league matches under his belt, the Portuguese international knows exactly what to expect.

Having played for LOSC and AS Monaco, he made a commitment to the Andalusian club last summer. With former OM player Lucas Ocampos in particular barring Lopes' way into the first team, the newly signed Aiglon has struggled to rack up game time La Liga (just 132 minutes played), and has had to make do with a few European appearances (seven matches in the Europa League).

A Ligue 1 performer

With his return to France, the former ASM No7 will be looking to regain confidence and, above all, playing time. The 24-year-old has plenty of room for improvement and has already established himself as a key figure in our championship in the past.

Reunion with Vieira

On the Côte d'Azur, the Manchester City-trained player will be reunited with his former coach Patrick Vieira (2012-2014). At the time, Vieira was coach of the Skyblues' U21 team and opted to make Lopes his side's captain. This loan move makes Rony Lopes the sixth recruit for Nice in an interesting summer transfer window, and Danish forward Kasper Dolberg for one will surely be happy to know he will have Lopes feeding him next season.
