Stade Rennais FC's star right-back Hamari Traoré has doubled down on his commitment to up-and-coming Rennes, signing a brand-new three-year deal with the Brittany club on Monday.

Recruited by Stade Rennais FC from Stade de Reims in 2017, Hamari Traoré has extended his contract with the Brittany club by three years and is now linked to the club coached by Julien Stéphan until 2023.

The Malian international has played 91 Ligue 1 Uber Eats matches with Rennes over the past three seasons, and in all competitions that figure rises to 119 matches in Rouge et Noir. This extension shows the ambitions of the club, as confirmed by president Nicolas Holveck, who noted that the player "had plenty of offers, but preferred to stay with us".

'I chose to stay at Rennes'

"This extension is a continuation of my adventure here," Traoré, 28, told the club's official website. "I took my time in weighing up my options, and everyone was impatient. I thought it over long and hard and I chose to stay in Rennes. I hope to continue to grow with the club. There are beautiful things to do. It's up to me and my partners to keep working to make the club evolve."
