France coach Didier Deschamps has paid tribute to Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé, saying that the 21-year-old has the same ability to impact a game - at younger age - as Cristiano Ronaldo.

France and Portugal - and therefore Mbappé and Ronaldo - will go head-to-head in UEFA Nations League Group A3 at the Stade de France on Saturday evening.

For world champions France, it is a chance to avenge their defeat in the UEFA Euro 2016 final at the same venue in 2016, and Deschamps thinks that Mbappé shares Ronaldo's ability to be the difference between the sides.

"Cristiano has unrelenting strength to be decisive at every moment," the coach said at his pre-match press conference. "It's a strength Kylian shares, even though he's much younger. That's what puts them both in the 'world-class' category of players."

Mbappé has scored two and assisted four in three Ligue 1 Uber Eats games for champions PSG this season, meaning he has had a hand in a goal every 43 minutes he has played. He is on 15 goals in 36 appearances for France, meanwhile.
