Islam Slimani scored his first goal for his new club as Olympique Lyonnais thrashed Ajaccio 5-1 in the Round of 64 of the Coupe de France.
Slimani, making his first start for OL, set up the opening goal for in-form captain Memphis Depay before the Algerian international netted the second with a smart finish from a Mattia Di Sciglio cross. Bruno Guimaraes scored the third before Slimani provided the final ball to Rayan Cherki and the 17-year-old produced a dazzling finish for the fourth before half-time.
Houssem Aouar came on for Depay at half-time and netted Ligue 1's second-placed club's final goal of the night. Ajaccio managed a late consolation but it had been another good evening for OL, who last won the Coupe de France in 2012.
Garcia: "We made sure this match wasn't a banana skin"
Coach Rudi Garcia said: "We made sure this match wasn't a banana skin. We made it easy for ourselves. We started strongly as we wanted to do. The captain showed the way. There were a lot of things to be pleased about in the way we linked up as a team and the way the attackers took their chances. We were able to manage game time and it was a perfect night."
Lorient came from behind to beat Ligue 2 Paris FC 2-1 but Reims fell to second tier opposition, losing 4-3 at home to Valenciennes.
