Neymar is out of Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League trip to Barcelona next Tuesday after going off injured in the holders' Coupe de France win at Caen.

The Brazilian captained PSG from the first whistle for the first time in Normandy and provided a magnificent assist for Moise Kean's 49th-minute goal that separated the sides. But before the hour Neymar limped off with an adductors injury, and could miss both legs of the Champions League Round of 16 meeting with his former club.

Post-match PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino said: "You could see that Neymar has an adductors problem. We have to wait and see with the medical staff what the injury is. This evening I don't know the reality of the injury. I hope it's nothing much but we'll know more after the medical exams."

Those exams revealed damage to the left adductor with the club releasing a statement on Thursday suggesting the forward will be absent for around four weeks.

Pochettino: "I have no regrets in playing him in the game"

Pochettino said on Wednesday night: "I have no regrets in playing him in the game. The pitch looked to be in good condition and he was fit to play. These injuries happen sometimes. I can't complain about the attitude of our opponents towards Neymar."

It is the latest ill-timed injury for the superstar, who missed the return leg of the Round of 16 exit to Real Madrid in 2018 and both legs of the aggregate loss to Manchester United at the same stage the following year. It's another headache for Pochettino, who will be without Angel Di Maria at the Nou Camp on Tuesday after the Argentinian was injured in the Classique victory at Marseille last Sunday.
