LOSC boss Jocelyn Gourvennec was focused on the positives after his side secured a 0-0 draw at home to Sevilla in the Champions League on Wednesday - a result that took them from bottom place to third in Group G.

After falling 1-0 to promoted Clermont in Ligue 1 Uber Eats Round 10 action on Saturday, LOSC were looking to bounce back with a first win of the UEFA Champions League campaign at home to Sevilla on Wednesday, and while coach Jocelyn Gourvennec was happy with the performance, the 0-0 draw did leave room for some regrets.

'We really showed up'

"We're happy and frustrated - a bit of both. We really showed up in terms of the intensity, against a strong team, one of the best of La Liga, who score in every game and concede very few goals. They didn't cross as much as usual, and they had relatively few chances," said the Frenchman, doubtless pleased to see his side keep just a third clean sheet of the season. "We should have been a little more precise and sharp in the last twenty metres. The other positive point is that we took the upper hand in the last 15 minutes. Our starters did very well for us."

Portuguese midfielder Renato Sanches had perhaps LOSC's best chance of the match when he broke through into the area, but his shot was easily saved - which was emblematic of Les Dogues' somewhat toothless evening in front of goal.

'Some little things missing'

"We lacked some spontaneity when we got into dangerous positions. Towards the end of the game, we provoked them more, to force them to make mistakes. There were some little things missing, but we'll work on the video to improve all that," explained Gourvennec. "It was a draw against a very good team. A point at home is not necessarily a case of under-performing. We pressed them very well."
