Sergio Ramos played his first game at the Parc des Princes as Paris Saint-Germain beat Stade Brestois 29 2-0 on Saturday, and coach Mauricio Pochettino is open to using a back three of the Spaniard, Marquinhos and Presnel Kimpembe going forward.

PSG kicked off with a 4-3-3 formation against Brest and were already two goals to the good - thanks to Kylian Mbappé and Thilo Kehrer strikes - when Ramos entered the fray in the the 72nd minutes.

But instead of replacing one of the starting centre-backs, either Marquinhos or Kimpembe, it was winger Angel Di Maria who made way for Ramos, the former Real Madrid man slipping into the centre of a back three with his fellow defenders on either side.

PSG have lined up with a back four in all 30 of their competitive games in all competitions this season, but coach Pochettino is happy to try a back three after an impressive cameo in the capital.

"It could be an option," said the Argentine tactician when asked after the match. "Having a line of three defenders takes time to work on, but we're not going to Qatar this winter, so it gives us time to work on things at the training centre in peace.

"We were better as a team in the second half and I'm happy with the players' application, especially their understanding of their positions, which allowed us to play more fluidly."

Gianluigi Donnarumma, who kept his sixth clean sheet of the season at the Parc des Princes, would be happy to see Ramos in front of him more often.

"Sergio's a great champion," he said. "He has bags of experience and can help us all. He'll be important for the Champions League. I congratulate him on playing his first minutes at the Parc, and we hope he will get a run in the team."
