Marseille boss Jorge Sampaoli had a chilling warning for Ligue 1 Uber Eats defences, suggesting that Arkadiusz Milik's hat-trick turn in Friday's 5-2 win over Angers was just a taste of things to come.

Back in action in front of packed Stade Vélodrome on Friday night - crowd limits having been abandoned - Olympique de Marseille rose to the occasion with a superb comeback from two goals down - and Milik was front and centre.

Sampaoli: 'Not 100% yet'

The scorer of OM's first, third and fourth goals, the Poland striker was all but unplayable, sparking the home side's fight-back, putting them in the lead and then killing off the match with a razor-sharp display.

"When Arek is at his best, we reap the rewards. We were hoping for that tonight," said Sampaoli after the rousing win that sent Marseille provisional second ahead of Nice's clash with Clermont on Sunday. "In the end, he scored two goals with passes from the wingers, so his performance did not come because we played in a two-striker formation, but rather because of his individual brilliance. He's not 100% yet, but when he is, he'll help us even more."

Derby looms

As fate would have it, Milik's next chance to assert his pedigree comes on Wednesday night when OM take on south-coast rivals OGC Nice in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France. Les Aiglons have been warned…
