Blanc replaced Peter Bosz as Lyon coach two weeks ago, returning to a French top-flight dugout for the first time in five years last Sunday as les Gones were edged 3-2 at Stade Rennais FC.

A four-time Ligue 1 Uber Eats winner as a manager - once with Girondins de Bordeaux and then three consecutive times with Paris Saint-Germain between 2014 and 2016, Blanc has been tasked with getting OL back into the UEFA Champions League.

Lacazette unlocked?

There were shoots of promise last weekend. Lyon took the lead through Alexandre Lacazette and the former Arsenal man drew his side level with another strike later in the game before Martin Terrier snatched all three points for the hosts.

Lyon's 3-4-2-1 was a marked departure from the Bosz era, as was the use of Jérôme Boateng at centre-back and a front two of Lacazette and Moussa Dembélé, although Blanc may not be settled on his best possible team yet.

"Everything pleased me lately; everything but the result [against Rennes]," he said. "We know very well that to get Lyon back on track you have to win matches.

"We've been hammering into the players for a week that we have to have the courage to play. Lyon must be ambitious in the game. It's a fairly personal path to follow but I think the players are adhering to it."

Lukeba and Faivre doubtful

Castello Lukeba is a doubt with a muscular injury so Damien Da Silva could start alongside Boateng and Sinaly Diomandé in Blanc's back three. Romain Faivre's dead leg means that Houssem Aouar should keep his place at No.10, meanwhile.

While Lyon have a new manager, Montpellier still await the appointment of theirs having sacked Olivier Dall'Oglio on Monday.

La Paillade slipped to 11th - one place and two points behind Lyon - with their 1-0 loss at RC Lens on Saturday, and after three consecutive defeated, club president Laurent Nicollin decided to pull the trigger.

"We have to recreate desire and I hope on Saturday we will have huge support to win against Lyon," he said. "We need our fans."

Chance for Pitau

Dall'Oglio has been replaced in the interim by former Montpellier midfielder Romain Pitau, and the 45-year-old will get until at least the FIFA World Cup in Qatar this winter - which give him the next four Ligue 1 Uber Eats games at a minimum.

Pitau isn't helped by the loss of Dall'Oglio's first-choice left-back to a ruptured ACL, but the long-term absence of Pedro Mendes aside, Montellier have a full-strength team to call upon, including former OL midfielder Jordan Ferri, who returns from suspension.

Possible teams

Montpellier: Omlin; Tchato, Jullien, Estève, Cozza; Ferri, Chotard; Nordin, Savanier, Mavididi; Wahi

Lyon: Lopes; Da Silva, Boateng, Diomandé; Gusto, Tolisso, Caqueret, Tagliafico; Aouar; Dembélé, Lacazette
