Alexis has been a resounding success since swapping Inter Milan for Marseille at the start of the season, hitting 13 goals in all competitions in helping OM up to second behind Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 Uber Eats.

But the Chilean, who spent the peak of his career with Arsenal in the Premier League, is without a goal since hitting a brace in the 2-0 win at Clermont Foot 63 last month.

Former Gunners finding range

Another former Gunner in Sead Kolasinac got the winner as les Phocéens beat fellow European aspirants Stade Rennais FC 1-0 last Sunday, and Alexis is sure he'll be back among the goals soon.

"I'm happy at Marseille and I want to continue here," he told Sky Sports Italia. "Could I still have been useful at Inter? That's what some of my teammates have told me. Some don't understand my departure. They write me saying 'Bravo, El Nino!'"

Inter's loss remains Marseille's gain, and Alexis will lead the line against Strasbourg, likely with Mattéo Guendouzi - yet another former Arsenal player - and Cengiz Under in support. Ruslan Malinovskyi and Dimitri Payet are also options there, but Amine Harit's season is over with a cruciate ligament injury.

Gigot struggling

Samuel Gigot's rolled ankle means Kolasinac is likely to be joined in a back three by Leonardo Balerdi and Chancel Mbemba. Nuno Tavares is one booking away from a suspension but should start on the right, with Igor Tudor having inverted his wing-backs in recent weeks.

Strasbourg are at the other end of the table to Marseille, only outside of the relegation zone on goal-difference. They failed to score in defeat to Stade Brestois 29 last Sunday, les Pirates leapfrogging them into 15th with a 1-0 win.

Le Racing held Marseille to a 2-2 draw when the sides met in October, but they have since replaced Julien Stéphan with Frédéric Antonetti as head coach, the Corsican appointed in February.

Antonetti 'confident'

"Despite the loss, I'm confident," he said after the Brest defeat. "I know we'll get there. Did we do everything to get another result? No. But we put a lot more in than in the previous two games in which we didn't lose. We weren't god but at least we tried."

Antonetti has a laundry list of injury absentees to contend with, with Alexander Djiku (thigh), Jean-Ricner Bellegarde (ankle) Maxime Le Marchand (ankle), Morgan Sanson (thigh) and Eiji Kawashima (shoulder) all missing.

Possible teams

Marseille: Lopez; Mbemba, Balerdi, Kolasinac; Tavares, Rongier, Veretour, Clauss; Under, Guendouzi; Alexis

Strasbourg: Sels; Doukouré, Nyamsi, Perrin; Guilbert, Aholou, Sissoko, Liénard, Sobol; Gameiro, Diallo
