By scoring his 23rd career Ligue 1 Uber Eats goal in Round 27, Montpellier Hérault SC striker Elye Wahi has become the top scorer born in 2003 or later in the five major European leagues.

Elye Wahi is a European benchmark! The Montpellier Hérault SC striker scored eight minutes after coming on as a substitute against AC Ajaccio on Sunday (0-1), and the goal continued his ascension since his Ligue 1 Uber Eats debut. To the point where he is now the top scorer among players born in 2003 or later in the five major European leagues.

On top of Europe

Since his first appearance in the top flight, against FC Metz on 16 December 2020, the Courcouronnes native has scored 23 goals - one more than Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala (22 goals). His nearest challengers in Ligue 1 Uber Eats are Kamory Doumbia (Stade de Reims) and Rayan Cherki (Olympique Lyonnais), who have only scored four career goals apiece.

Having already scored ten goals in 33 games last season, MHSC's number 21 is well on his way to improving on his personal best over the season's remaining 11 games, as he equalled his tally from last season at the weekend. The French U-21 international also became the first Montpellier player to score at least ten goals in two consecutive seasons since Younes Belhanda (12 in 2011-12, 10 in 2012-13).
