FC Nantes have announced the signature of French right-back Ronaël Pierre-Gabriel from Mainz, the 25-year-old signing a three-year deal that will link him to the club through to 2026.

At just 25 years of age, Ronaël Pierre-Gabriel is already something of a journeyman - and is set to come full circle as the new Nantes man returns to France following a couple of seasons spent bouncing around Europe on loan from Mainz - for whom he has made just eight Bundesliga appearances in the past four seasons.

He's back

After leaving Monaco for the Bundesliga club back in 2019, RPG has had temporary spells with Ligue 1 Uber Eats sides Brest (two seasons) and Strasbourg (six months of last season) and La Liga side Espanyol but now has a chance to settle and really start capitalising on the potential that saw him capped for France at the U18, U19 and U21 levels.

"I'm very happy to be here at FC Nantes," a product of the Saint-Etienne youth academy. "I want to make my contribution to the team.

Pierre-Gabriel's arrival comes the day after 22-year-old Senegalese defensive midfielder Lamine Diack arrived at the Beaujoire on a season-long loan - with mandatory purchase clause - from Turkish side Ankaragücü.
