Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé should start for PSG, who are still looking for their first win of the season. Lens are in the same boat, but will be buoyed by the signing of Montpellier forward Elye Wahi.

It’s an early season cracker between last season’s top two in Ligue 1 Uber Eats, as PSG and RC Lens ultimately only finished a point apart in the final league standings at the end of May. Despite this, both sides have not won any of their opening matches so far in the 2023-2024 season.

Luis Enrique was speaking to PSG’s official site earlier this week, and said he was happy with what he saw from his side so far this campaign. "Well, I have to say it's been very positive. With players, it takes time to get to know each other. That time is needed for the team to understand what I want as coach, but also for everyone to learn to live together.

The match against Toulouse saw the debut of France international Ousmane Dembélé for the club, and he became the 499th player to wear the red and blue of PSG. Dembélé managed to make an impact, attempting three times more dribbles than any other player on the pitch, despite coming on in the 51st minute.

“I’m happy with my first minutes for PSG,” said the former Stade Rennais man following his debut, “We're in our second league game, we've had the pre-season, but we still need to work on becoming a great squad and a great team.”

Kylian Mbappé entered the field of play at the same time as his compatriote, and provided a goal on his return to action since his transfer impasse over the summer. The pair should be involved against Lens, this time likely from the starting whistle at the Parc des Princes. Meanwhile, attacking midfielder Kang-In Lee will not be involved after suffering a left quadriceps injury.

Elye Wahi will travel to Paris, but will he be involved for Lens?

Just before the Sang & Or went to battle with Rennes at Stade Bollaert Delelis last weekend, there was movement in the stands. Montpellier forward Elye Wahi signed his five-year contract with Lens in front of an excitable home crowd. They had reason to be so, since Wahi had been coveted by some of Europe’s biggest clubs all summer. Chelsea, West Ham United, Frankfurt, and PSG were all keeping tabs on the France U21 striker, yet he chose RC Lens and Franck Haise.

“We spoke to him about the club’s project, about what the club is today and how we could grow together,” said manager Haise when asked about how he convinced the prolific forward to join the club. “He's an all-round striker, capable of attacking from deep and playing well in combination. He's a finisher. He has strong athletic qualities and a spontaneity that is instinctive like the great players,” explained the Frenchman when defining Wahi’s key characteristics.

When asked about whether Wahi will be involved against PSG, Haise said “He’s had a short preparation period, arriving only a week ago. I’ll be the one to decide whether he starts. He’ll be coming to Paris, and not just to visit the capital.”
