Paris Saint-Germain are tipped to take no risks with injured superstar Kylian Mbappé, who looks destined for a place in the stands against Clermont following the ankle injury sustained in Paris Saint-Germain's 4-0 Classique win over Marseille on Sunday night.

Although it was a record-equalling Classique win over eternal arch-rivals OM, with star turns from Achraf Hakimi and new strikers Randal Kolo Muani and Gonçalo Ramos, Sunday night's result also had its share of bad news for Paris Saint-Germain: Kylian Mbappé was forced off injured on the half-hour mark.

The World Cup-winning superstar has been diagnosed with an ankle sprain and while it is not considered severe, Luis Enrique and his staff absolutely want their star man fit for the UEFA Champions League clash with Newcastle on Wednesday 4 October.

PSG cruised to a 2-0 win over Dortmund in their Matchday 1 clash at the Parc des Princes and will be looking for another three-point haul away to the English side in order to remain atop the Group F standings.

You're telling me there's a chance?

Thus Mbappé is likely to be watching on from the stands as his expensively assembled cast of teammates - who did exceptionally well against Marseille - do battle with struggling Clermont on Saturday afternoon (Kick-off at 17:00 CET).

However, Mbappé - ever hungry to add to his scintillating stats, which this season have him on top of the Ligue 1 Uber Eats scorers chart with seven goals in five appearances!  - will surely be keen to play and another examination and update will be effected on Friday.
