Franck Haise was understandably delighted after his RC Lens beat RC Strasbourg Alsace 1-0, but he is demanding more of goalscorer Elye Wahi.

Wahi got the only goal of the game at the Stade de la Meinau on Friday - his first for the club in five Ligue 1 Uber Eats games since joining from Montpellier Hérault SC this summer.

It was beautifully taken too, the France U21 attacker controlling Florian Sotoca's knock-down on the turn to deceive Gerzino Nyamsi before steering his shot low beyond Matz Sels.

It was Lens' second consecutive win after a stuttering start to the campaign, one which brings them up to a provisional 13th, and Haise thought it was nothing if not deserved.

Haise: logical victory

"The victory's quite logical," he said. "It's good to have won this match without conceding a goal, even if we could have scored a second.

"I'm satisfied for the players, who gave a lot. We had a little doubt after Brest [Lens were beaten 3-2 by them on the opening day]. But we lifted our heads. We've been finding our feet for a while. I'm happy to see a team that resembles the one I know and love."

Lens now turn their attentions to Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. Wahi could have been lining up against them in a London derby had he chosen Chelsea over Lens this summer. While glad Wahi's off the mark, Haise wants to see more from him.

"Elye Wahi wasn't annoyed because he was subbed off [for Morgan Guilavogui on 65 minutes], but because the players were demanding more from of him. I think they're right to be. He scored a nice goal, but he's capable of doing much better than he did tonight."
