Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique described his side's last-gasp 3-2 win at Brest as a 'great victory' but admitted the reigning Ligue 1 Uber Eats champions were second best in an explosive second half.

Goals from Warren Zaïre-Emery and Kylian Mbappé put the Parisians two-goals to the good at Stade Francis Le Blé but headers either side of the interval from Steve Mounié and Jérémy La Douaron got the hosts on level terms

Mbappé netted PSG's winner a minute from time after his initial penalty had been saved by Marco Bizot, to top off a superb week for the Spanish coach.

"It was great victory on a very difficult ground," said the PSG boss who saw his side move within a point of leaders OGC Nice.

"Brest are an opponent who hadn't lost at home. I think the match had two very different halves. The first, where we were very good and could have scored even more goals - where we were better than Brest.

"But at the end of the first half, they scored a goal from a throw-in and a cross, which is one of their strengths. In the second half, the truth is that we were a long way from our best, and Brest were better than us.

Mbappé's second came at a time when the capital club were running out of time to find a precious winner. Lilian Brassier's clumsy challenge on Randal Kolo Muani was penalised thanks to a VAR intervention, handing the World Cup winner the opportunity to settle matters from the penalty spot.

"The result could have gone for either team," Enrique added. "In the end, we had a passage of play which led to a penalty. I haven't seen Kolo. I don't know whether it was a penalty or not, I guess it was one, and from there, the match was finished. However, the second half wasn't up to our standards."

PSG defender Lucas Hernandez echoed his coach's sentiments and highlighted his side's character and tiredness after three key wins in eight days.

Hernandez said: "We showed the strength of the team, the character that all the players have. We knew that it was going to be a difficult match. We'd had a long week and showed that on the pitch. That's the most important. That was our objective for the week, to win the three matches. Now, we'll have a long week of recovery and then it's back to work the week after."
