Following Champions League action against Real Sociedad (2-0), Paris Saint-Germain travel to Stade de la Beaujoire to face a Nantes side who’ve just won their first game in 2024

Last weekend saw Les Canaris clinch three vital points off Toulouse (1-2), ending a miserable run of six games without a win in Ligue 1 Uber Eats, and clinching a first win in 2024. Meanwhile, Les Parisiens held their 11-point lead at the top of the table with a win over Lille (3-1) before successfully navigating a tricky test against Real Sociedad (2-0) at the Parc des Princes. Nantes and PSG clash in Saturday evening's late game (21:00 CET).

The home side lost five of their last six fixtures before their win against Toulouse, putting them in a precarious situation in the table as they sit only three points above Lorient in the relegation play-off spot. To make matters worse, the winter transfer window saw star man Quentin Merlin leave the club for Marseille.

Yet, after seeing through the slump, manager Jocelyn Gouvernnec still feels positive about his squad going into a vital fixture against PSG. “The team is now better equipped to tackle the final thirteen matches of the season,” admitted the Frenchman. “When there's a sense of competition in a squad, in a group, it always pushes things upwards.”

Luis Enrique expecting tough test against Les Canaris

"I'm expecting a totally different game to the one we've just played in the Champions League,” admitted PSG manager Luis Enrique at his pre-match press conference. The former Barcelona boss is wary of a “highly motivated” Nantes side who could pose a problem and “hurt us in transitions and from set-pieces".

PSG are currently unbeaten in 16 successive league fixtures, equalling their longest run without a defeat from their previous Ligue 1 Uber Eats campaign last season. They have also won all their away matches in all competitions so far this year. If Nantes are to get a result, they would have to inflict PSG’s first away defeat of the season.
