Saturday will see two thrilling Ligue 1 matches as AS Monaco travels to the Stade Municipal Saint-Symphorien to face FC Metz while Stade de Reims heads to Groupama Stadium for a showdown against Olympique Lyonnais. Here's an overview to help prepare you for the pair of contests.

Metz vs. Monaco

Adi Hütter and his team have a chance to move into provisional second place with a road win over FC Metz. Monaco (46 points) currently trail Stade Brestois (47 points) by one point, so the race is tight to secure an automatic UEFA Champions League spot for next season.

Les Rouge et Blanc are entering the match against Metz on a positive note, having suffered just one loss in their last six matches (three wins and two draws). On the other side, Metz need all three points against Monaco as they're currently in a relegation battle.

Metz (23 points) are in 17th place and trail FC Nantes (25 points) by two points for the relegation playoff spot. Les Grenats have won two of their last three matches to give themselves a fighting chance to avoid direct relegation.

Reims vs. Lyon

Will Still and his team are on the outside looking in as the race for a European competition spot for next season is tight. Reims (38 points) trail fourth-place LOSC Lille (43 points) by five points and have struggled as of late, only winning two games from their last six (two draws and two losses). Les Champenois cannot continue to drop points if they want to jump into one of the European competitions for next season.

Les Gones are safely away from the relegation battle at the moment and have won their last two games. Lyon will be aiming to win a third straight, and the contest against Reims will also serve as a warm-up for the squad as Pierre Sage and his team will play their Coupe de France semifinal against Valenciennes FC on April 2.
