EA Sports FC has released the list of the 23 players who make up its 2024 Ligue 1 Uber Eats Team of the Season
Here’s a closer look at this year’s squad.
Goalkeepers: Gianluigi Donnarumma, Paris Saint-Germain
Also honored at the Trophées UNFP as the league’s best goalkeeper, the Italian, who helped his club win the Ligue 1 Uber Eats title, is the only goalkeeper honored.
Defenders: Tiago Santos, LOSC Lille; Facundo Medina, RC Lens; Dante, OGC Nice; Bradley Locko, Stade Brestois; Marquinhos, Paris Saint-Germain; Lucas Hernández, Paris Saint-Germain; Nuno Mendes, Paris Saint-Germain; Jean-Clair Todibo, OGC Nice; Kenny Lala, OGC Nice
A strong reflection of the importance of defending to the league’s surprise package, Stade Brestois, EA Sports selected the Breton side’s two fullbacks, youngster Bradley Locko and veteran Kenny Lala. Aside from these two, the impressive partnership of Dante and Todibo have helped Les Aiglons have the league’s best defence and have been rightly honored.
Midfielders: Vitinha, Paris Saint-Germain; Warren Zaïre-Emery, Paris Saint-Germain; Pierre Lees-Melou, Stade Brestois; Nabil Bentaleb, LOSC Lille; Rayan Cherki, Olympique Lyonnais; Khéphren Thuram, OGC Nice; Denis Zakaria, AS Monaco
While youngsters Vitinha and Zaïre-Emery have impressed all season, with the latter winning the league’s young player of the year award, veteran midfielders have been hugely influential this season, as a look at both the TOTS and the league table shows. Each of Brest, Lille and Monaco have had impressive seasons by relying on veteran presences in midfield, with Monaco and LOSC’s summer moves for Zakaria and Bentaleb looking particularly canny.
Attackers: Kylian Mbappé, Paris Saint-Germain; Ousmane Dembélé, Paris Saint-Germain; Jonathan David, LOSC Lille; Aleksandr Golovin, AS Monaco; Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Olympique de Marseille
Making up three of the top four scorers, the inclusions of Mbappé, David and Aubameyang are no surprise. The same is true for Dembélé, named to the UNFP Ligue 1 Uber Eats Team of the Year, and the league leader in assists. Golovin may seem an exception, but before suffering a season-ending injury the Russian midfielder showcased his all-action style with aplomb for Adi Hütter’s, notching up six goals and six assists while both on the left wing and in central midfield.
